South Hams Field Archers

13 March 16

Thank you to all archers who turned out to make the day a success. A big thank you must go to Gwen and the staff of Kitley House Hotel for allowing us to use their carpark. We filled the hotel car park, as the overspill field was waterlogged form the week beforehand.

Well, almost a full house for a 20 X 20 shoot. Seventy Eighty archers made the effort to shoot in the glorious setting of Warren Wood by kind permission of the Bastard family. We’d laid 40 targets with the farthest 3D to be shot first time round and then the nearest second time around. The format was kept simple (no negative scoring), if you hit the wrong target that arrow didn’t score.

Thanks to Julie and Millie, who kept all archers fed and watered throughout the day, with the usual fare and an exceptional veggie chilli (I cooked it). It is always great to receive such positive feedback and watching the Xbow and UL classes go to the blue pegs is always a bonus! Big thanks is also given to the club members, that helped and marshalled on the day. A day for the diary is 11 September 16, when we will do it all again with faces prior to the nationals.
